Senior Project Manager – Land Surveying

    • Provide leadership to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and control the entire business operation to meet continued growth and profit objectives of the company.
    • To aid in the implementation of all policies and procedures.
    • To manage projects so they are completed on time and within budget.
    • To foster good company relations with employees, customers and vendors.
    • To hire and terminate for all subordinate positions in conjunction with the CEO.
    • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey is selected by, and reports to, the CEO.
    • The following positions report directly to the Project Manager – Survey:
      • Surveyor in Training
      • Draftsman
      • Research Clerk

      • Required: Land surveying courses.
      • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a board approved land-surveying curriculum.
      • Required: Land Surveyor License in Indiana.
      • Preferred: Land Surveyor License in Indiana and Michigan.
      • Required: Three to five years experience as a licensed Land Surveyor.
      • Preferred: Five to ten years experience as a Sr. Project Manager – Survey.
      • Ability to be multitask oriented. He/she must be able to stay focused on daily duties while being responsive to the CEO.
      • Ability to guide direct and coordinate a department with up to 15 employees.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage Surveying projects.
      • Technical knowledge and ability in the surveying industry.
      • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from vendors and customers.
      • Excellent knowledge of the surveying industry and trends impacting its business.
      • Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
      • Above average knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.

        • BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time.  He/she may also be required to stand and/or walk for short periods of time while completing duties and responsibilities.
        • BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements.
        • BODY SENSES: The employee must have command of the following senses: sight, hearing, touch, and smell.  Specific vision abilities required include those necessary for office work including close vision requirements to view a computer screen.
        • STRENGTH: The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to twenty pounds.
        • MENTAL: The employee must have the mathematics knowledge to handle the financial and pricing aspects of the position.  He/she must also have the technical ability and memory to perform his/her function.
        • This position will be working in a smoke free office and on site at client locations. When in the outdoors, the employee will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures.  The normal auto travel hazards will apply.  Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain, snow and ice.
        • The noise level in the office is usually moderate but in the outdoors or at client locations can be loud.
      • He/she has authority over all aspects of the project management function, as granted and authorized by the CEO.
    • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey is directly responsible and accountable to the CEO.
    • The primary functional responsibilities of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey – include:
      • Ensure all projects are estimated using the guidelines established by the CEO.
      • Must ensure that each project has a signed engagement letter prior to the work being started.
      • Must ensure that all projects are communicated to the field clearly.
      • Quality control is the responsibility of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey.
      • Project costing and tracking is the responsibility of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey.
      • Regulatory compliance is the responsibility of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey.
      • Customer service is the responsibility of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey.
      • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey is responsible for the accurate communication with the client.
      • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey must make every effort to network with potential clients throughout the workday.
    • The duties of the Sr. Project Manager – Survey include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
      • Prepare all proposals using the guidelines established by the CEO.
      • Prepare and have an engagement letter signer for each new client prior to starting work.
      • Provide a complete scope of work and deadline date to the Survey Crew Manager.
      • Review drawings prior to being sent to the field for accuracy and upon completion for quality.
      • Review all project cost weekly. For short duration projects, monitor actual expenses compared to the estimated cost.  For longer duration projects, ensure project costs are in line with estimated cost.  Discuss project budget concerns with C.E.O. promptly.
      • Supervise all direct subordinates on a daily basis.
      • Must fill in when appropriate with technical issues and also when physical assistance is needed with a project.
      • Follow-up with his/her projects in an effort to collect invoices.
      • Make and keep appointments with clients. Prepare proposals and engagement letters as required.
      • Maintain sufficient contact with the client during the project.
      • Develop and maintain a system to follow-up with prospects and proposals.
      • Handle any customer service issues.
      • Keep abreast of the competitions efforts through ethical methods.
      • Evaluate all subordinates on schedule.
      • Perform all other reasonable tasks and duties assigned by the CEO.
    • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey of Marbach, Brady & Weaver, Inc. shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
      • Established pricing guidelines and estimating procedures have been used on all assigned projects.
      • The complete scope of work and deadline date have been communicated to the Survey Crew Manager on all projects.
      • Quality has met company standards on all projects.
      • Costing reports have been reviewed to ensure projects have been profitable.
      • Efforts have been made on a regular basis to sell new work.
      • The Sr. Project Manager – Survey has maintained sufficient communication with the client through the completion of the project.
      • The perceived degree of satisfaction by the CEO.
